Ranveer Singh’s Blockbuster *Dhurandhar* Set for Japan Debut

Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar is preparing for a theatrical release in Japan on July 10, 2026. The announcement follows the film’s strong performance at the global box office.
The makers shared the update on social media along with a Japanese-language poster. They wrote, “It’s time for Japan to experience the Dhurandhar energy! Arriving in theatres across Japan on 10.7.2026.”
Moreover, the film will release in Japan under the localized title Operation Dhurandhar. This move aims to connect better with local audiences.
Record-Breaking Global Box Office Performance
Dhurandhar recorded an impressive worldwide gross of ₹1,307.35 crore after its release on December 5, 2025. The film performed strongly across key international markets.
According to the makers, it became the No. 1 Hindi film of all time in North America. In addition, it emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in Canada and Australia.
Furthermore, the film ranked among the top-performing Indian films in the United Kingdom. This global success has encouraged its expansion into Japan, a growing market for Indian cinema.
Cast, Crew, and Storyline
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features a large ensemble cast. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun.
The story follows an undercover Indian intelligence officer on a high-risk counter-terrorism mission. He infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political networks to dismantle a major terror operation targeting India.
Additionally, the film draws loose inspiration from real geopolitical tensions in South Asia. Its action-driven narrative and scale have contributed to its wide appeal.
Sequel Continues the High-Stakes Narrative
Meanwhile, the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, continues the story of the undercover agent. The film explores deeper conflicts and introduces new threats.
The sequel also focuses on the pursuit of justice linked to the 26/11 attacks. It expands the narrative with higher stakes and broader geopolitical elements.
Furthermore, the second installment has maintained strong box office momentum. It is nearing major global milestones and continues to perform well in theatres.
Japan Release Expected to Boost Global Run
The Japan release is expected to open a new revenue stream for the franchise. Japanese audiences have shown increasing interest in large-scale Indian action films.
In addition, the makers have prepared localized promotional material, including a tailored poster and branding. This indicates a strategic push into the Japanese market.
With Dhurandhar heading to Japan and its sequel still running, the franchise continues to expand its global footprint.
