Shilpa Shetty Returns to Hosting With ZEE5’s ‘Maa Hai Na’

Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra is set to host the upcoming reality cooking show Maa Hai Na, which will premiere on ZEE5 on June 12. The show brings together Gen Z contestants and their mothers or family members for a mix of cooking challenges, comedy, and emotional family moments.
The trailer for the non-fiction series offers a glimpse into a kitchen competition built around family dynamics rather than culinary expertise alone. Contestants are expected to navigate pressure, humour, nostalgia, and everyday family chaos while competing in a series of tasks.
Speaking about the show, Shilpa Shetty said, “Maa Hai Na is not just about cooking; it’s about those little moments between a mother and child that we often take for granted. The show has laughter, pressure, nostalgia, and genuine emotions that surprised me, and I love how beautifully it captures the madness and magic of that relationship.”
She added, “What I didn’t expect at all was that in all the humour we found emotions that were heartwarming and just like we believe in every Indian home, Maa hai Na, toh sab possible hai.”
Contestants and Family Pairings
The series features seven contestant pairs from the worlds of television, social media, and digital entertainment. The lineup includes Sunita Ahuja with daughter Tina Ahuja, Urvashi Dholakia with son Kshitij Dholakia, influencer Tanya Mittal with mother Sunita Mittal, and content creator Gullu with mother Munesh Tanwar.
The contestant list also includes Shahida Ansari with nephew Afghan, Bhagyashree E Sharma with mother Rinju Sharma, and internet personality Manisha Rani with her father Manoj Kumar.
Comedians Gaurav Kapoor, Ali Asgar, and Chandan Prabhakar are also part of the show.
Shilpa Shetty Returns to Hosting
While Shilpa Shetty has appeared as a judge on several reality shows including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Nach Baliye, Super Dancer, and India’s Got Talent, Maa Hai Na marks her return to hosting after her stint on Bigg Boss season 2.
The format of the show centres on the bond between parents and children, using cooking challenges as the backdrop for emotional and comedic interactions. The trailer highlights playful arguments, kitchen mishaps, and nostalgic conversations aimed at creating a family-oriented viewing experience.
