The trailer for Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has been unveiled, offering a detailed look at the upcoming spy-action film from Yash Raj Films’ expanding spy universe. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film also features Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and a cameo by Hrithik Roshan.

The trailer introduces Alia Bhatt as an assassin raised from childhood by a mentor figure, played by Bobby Deol. Named Sita at birth, her character is trained to become a lethal operative. The narrative traces her transformation into “Alpha,” setting up a conflict that sees her turn against the very man who raised her.

Framed with references to the Ramayana, the story flips the traditional narrative. In a voiceover, Alia’s character declares that this time, there is no saviour coming—she will “burn Lanka” herself. The trailer leans heavily into stylised action, showing her executing missions and engaging in close combat.

Sharvari’s character, absent from the earlier teaser, plays a key role in the trailer. Initially positioned as an adversary, she later aligns with Alia’s character. Their dynamic unfolds through a series of combat sequences and shared objectives, suggesting a partnership formed amid conflict.

Bobby Deol’s character, Fateh, is depicted as a former spy who turns against the nation, driven by revenge. Anil Kapoor appears to be linked to the Alpha programme and is shown attempting to counter Fateh’s plans.

The trailer closes with a brief tease of Hrithik Roshan, reprising his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal from War and its sequel. His appearance hints at a crossover within the YRF Spy Universe, connecting Alpha to the franchise’s larger narrative.

The film has faced multiple release delays. Initially scheduled for December, it was later moved to April before being finalised for a July release. The delay was attributed to extended visual effects work, with the makers stating their intention to deliver a polished theatrical experience.

Alpha marks a significant addition to Yash Raj Films’ spy franchise, which includes titles such as Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. It is positioned as the first female-led entry in the series.

Online reactions to the trailer have been mixed. While some viewers have praised the action sequences and performances, others have drawn comparisons to international films like Black Widow and questioned the originality of the plot. There has also been discussion around Sharvari’s screen presence, following her limited appearance in the earlier teaser.

Alpha is scheduled to release in theatres on July 3.
