Alia Bhatt Trains as a Deadly Operative in First Teaser for Alpha

Yash Raj Films has unveiled the first official teaser for Alpha, offering a look at Alia Bhatt’s character and her entry into the YRF Spy Universe. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on July 3 and stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol.
The teaser centers on Sita, played by Alia Bhatt, and traces the origins of a young operative raised for a life of combat. Bobby Deol plays Baba, a mentor figure who has trained Sita since childhood as part of a secret programme known as Alpha.
The footage opens with Baba taking Sita out for dinner on her 18th birthday. What appears to be a celebratory evening soon takes a darker turn when he presents her with a gift containing a secret code and informs her that she is being sent on her first mission.
“You are going on your first mission on your 18th birthday. What could be more special than this?” Baba tells her in the teaser.
The film introduces Alpha as a covert initiative designed to train the next generation of elite soldiers. Throughout the teaser, Alia’s character is shown undergoing intense action sequences and taking on multiple opponents, reinforcing her portrayal as a highly trained operative. A recurring theme in the preview is Baba’s belief that “a wolf’s daughter will be a wolf,” highlighting the father-daughter dynamic at the center of the story.
The teaser also appears to continue elements introduced in the post-credit scene of War 2, where Bobby Deol’s character was seen marking a young Sita with the Alpha insignia. In the new footage, the symbol remains a key part of her identity.
While the preview generated excitement among fans eager to see Alia Bhatt’s first full-fledged action role, it also sparked discussion online over the absence of co-star Sharvari. Viewers noted that although Sharvari appeared in promotional artwork and the teaser thumbnail, she was not featured in the footage itself.
Several fans questioned the decision, with some expressing concern that the actress may be receiving less prominence in the film’s marketing campaign. Others speculated that her character could be deliberately being kept under wraps for a later reveal. Yash Raj Films has yet to unveil details about Sharvari’s role, and reports indicate that the studio plans to introduce her character separately.
Alpha marks the first female-led installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Tiger 3, War, War 2 and Pathaan. The project experienced multiple release-date changes during production, with Yash Raj Films previously attributing one delay to ongoing visual effects work.
Alongside Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol, the film is also set to feature Anil Kapoor reprising his role from War 2. With its focus on the origins of a new operative and its place within the expanding spy franchise, Alpha is positioned as the next chapter in YRF’s interconnected action universe.
