Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is set to return to the big screen with his next feature, Yeh Prem Mol Liya, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari. The film will release in theatres on November 27, 2026, as confirmed by the makers.

Backed by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films, the project is positioned as a wholesome family entertainer. The announcement was shared via social media, with the makers stating: “This November… brings to the BIG screen a family entertainer… In theatres 27th November 2026 – Save the date.”

Ayushmann Khurrana steps into the iconic ‘Prem’ role

One of the key highlights of the film is Ayushmann Khurrana taking on the role of ‘Prem’—a character closely associated with classic Barjatya films and previously portrayed by stars including Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor, and Sonu Sood.

The film marks the return of the ‘Prem’ archetype to the big screen after more than a decade, with Khurrana stepping into the role for the first time. He will be paired opposite Sharvari, marking their first on-screen collaboration.

Reunion with Himesh Reshammiya and Barjatya’s signature style

The film’s music will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya, who reunites with Barjatya after their previous collaboration on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2014).

Barjatya, known for delivering family-centric blockbusters such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and Vivah, last directed Uunchai (2022). The film earned him the National Award for Best Director.

Yeh Prem Mol Liya marks his return to direction after a four-year gap and is positioned as a clean, family-oriented entertainer at a time when Hindi cinema has largely been dominated by action, horror, and large-scale spectacles.

Cast busy with upcoming releases

Ayushmann Khurrana has a packed lineup ahead of the film’s release. He will next be seen in the family comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, directed by Mudassar Aziz, slated to hit theatres on May 15. He is also working on other projects, including a spy comedy alongside Sara Ali Khan.

Sharvari, meanwhile, is set to appear in Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali and co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Vedang Raina, releasing June 12. She will also feature in Alpha, the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, alongside Alia Bhatt, directed by Shiv Rawail, scheduled for a July 10 release.
