Are you ready for Dhurandhar 3 ?

The future of the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise is once again drawing attention after co-producer Jyoti Deshpande hinted that another announcement tied to the spy-action series could be on the way. While the makers have stopped short of confirming ‘Dhurandhar 3’, her remarks have sparked fresh speculation about what comes next for the Ranveer Singh-led franchise.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Deshpande said, “We’re not done with Dhurandhar yet. We’ll hopefully have a surprise for the audience later this year. There’s something up our sleeves.”
The comment arrives after the strong box office performance of both ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, which reportedly earned more than Rs 3,000 crore worldwide combined.
No official confirmation on ‘Dhurandhar 3’
Despite the growing buzz online, the studio has not announced a third film. Deshpande also avoided clarifying whether the teased project is a sequel, a spin-off, or another addition connected to the franchise.
Actor Rakesh Bedi, who portrayed Jameel Jamali in the series, previously suggested that the central storyline may have already reached its conclusion. Speaking to Zoom, he said, “I don’t think a third part will happen. But Dhurandhar is a franchise, and it can be made with some other actors at any given point of time. The story ends with the spy going back to his nation.”
His remarks have fuelled discussion that future projects could shift focus to new characters or storylines within the same universe rather than continue Hamza Ali Mazari’s journey directly.
Franchise became one of Indian cinema’s biggest hits
Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Films, the ‘Dhurandhar’ films emerged as major commercial successes.
Released on December 5, 2025, the first instalment followed an undercover Indian intelligence agent navigating Karachi’s criminal underworld while targeting an ISI-backed terror network. The film loosely referenced real-world events including the IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, arrived in theatres on March 19, 2026. The story continued Hamza Ali Mazari’s covert mission inside Pakistan’s Lyari region as he pursued terror operatives linked to the 26/11 attacks.
Trade estimates across multiple reports place the sequel’s worldwide earnings between Rs 1,700 crore and Rs 1,800 crore, cementing its position among the highest-grossing Indian films.
Yami Gautam on Aditya Dhar after the films’ success
Actor Yami Gautam also addressed the franchise’s impact on filmmaker Aditya Dhar during an interview with Grazia. Reflecting on the scale of the success, she said it had not changed him personally.
“Nothing has changed us as people. That also comes from Aditya, and the kind of person he is, very unaffected and extremely humble,” she said.
She added, “Good things happen to good people. What’s meant for you may be delayed but never denied.”
OTT plans and legal dispute surrounding the sequel
Conversation around ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has extended beyond theatres due to its expected streaming release and an ongoing legal dispute connected to the film’s music.
The sequel is expected to stream on JioHotstar after its theatrical run, while the first film was released digitally on Netflix.
The controversy centres on the remix track ‘Rang De Laal’, which used elements of the song ‘Tirchi Topiwale’. Director and producer Rajiv Rai alleged that the track was included without authorisation. During court proceedings, B62 Films stated that the film was unlikely to debut on OTT platforms before mid-May, in line with the standard post-theatrical release window.
For now, the only confirmed development is Deshpande’s promise of a ‘Dhurandhar’-related surprise later in 2026. Whether that announcement leads to ‘Dhurandhar 3’ or a different expansion of the franchise remains unclear.
