Sudhir Dalvi’s Wife Reveals Bollywood Stars Helped With Bills

Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, best known for playing Sai Baba in the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, is recovering at home after a serious health crisis that led to prolonged hospitalisation in 2025. His wife, Suhas Dalvi, has revealed that actors Ranbir Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan and Akshay Kumar were among those from the film industry who stepped forward to help the family financially when medical expenses became difficult to manage.

In an interview with Subhash K Jha for BollySpice, Suhas said Dalvi is now home but still needs a walker to move around and remains disoriented. She described the hospital experience as difficult for both the actor and the family.

“When the news spread that we were unable to meet hospital bills, many from the film industry came forward to help financially,” Suhas said, adding that Kartik Aaryan, Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Kumar were “among the first to help.” She also said several others from within and outside the film industry contributed, while Sai Baba devotees supported the family because of Dalvi’s association with the revered figure.

Dalvi’s recovery remains slow

Dalvi was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital in October 2025 after developing serious complications from sepsis. Reports at the time said the infection had affected his joints and restricted movement in his limbs, requiring intensive-care treatment.

His treatment created a substantial financial burden for the family. Earlier reports said the family had already spent nearly ₹10 lakh, with doctors estimating that expenses could rise to around ₹15 lakh. Later coverage put the eventual hospital bill at about ₹19 lakh, indicating that the final cost was higher than the initial estimate.

In December 2025, the Bombay High Court permitted the Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust to provide ₹11 lakh in financial assistance for Dalvi’s treatment. The court order recorded that the veteran actor was in need of financial help because of his medical condition.

Suhas said the family has since asked a film association that was providing monthly financial assistance to redirect that support to someone else in greater need. She said Dalvi had received the medical treatment required and that the family was now primarily seeking prayers for his recovery.

A career spanning film and television

Dalvi has worked across Hindi cinema and television for more than three decades. He became widely recognised for portraying Guru Vashishta in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and gained enduring recognition for playing Sai Baba in Shirdi Ke Sai Baba.

His other screen credits include films such as Kranti, Satyamev Jayate, Khudgarz, Guru and Khal Nayak. His television work includes Buniyaad, Chanakya, Jai Hanuman, Vishnu Puran and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Now back at home, Dalvi continues to recover from the illness, with his wife saying that his progress has been slow but that he is happy to be home.
