Ajay Devgn has officially announced Drishyam The Conclusion, the third and final film in the Hindi Drishyam franchise, with the movie set to arrive in theatres on October 2, 2026. Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, the character at the centre of the series, for what is being positioned as the concluding chapter of his story.
Devgn unveiled the film’s first poster on August 24. The close-up image focuses on his eye and carries the line, “Mera Sach, Mera Sahi, Sirf Meri Family Hai”, reinforcing the character’s defining motivation. In his social media caption, Devgn wrote, “Har insaan ka nazariya alag hota hai… mere liye meri family hi sab kuch hai,” before confirming the October 2 theatrical release.
The October 2 date has a particular connection to the franchise. In the first Hindi Drishyam, Vijay and his family construct an elaborate alibi around October 2 after an accidental death, claiming they travelled to Panaji, ate at a restaurant, watched a film and stayed overnight. The recurring date became one of the series’ most recognisable plot elements.
What to expect from Drishyam The Conclusion
A first-look teaser released in December 2025 had already suggested that Vijay’s story would move towards a decisive confrontation. In the teaser, Devgn’s voiceover reflects on the different labels attached to Vijay — from criminal and murderer to father and mastermind — before reaffirming that his family remains his priority. Star Studios’ announcement at the time also described the film as the final part of the story.
The cast brings back several major characters from the earlier films. Tabu reprises her role as IG Meera Deshmukh, while Shriya Saran returns as Nandini. Rajat Kapoor is also returning, with Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat joining the franchise in new roles. Abhishek Pathak, who directed Drishyam 2, is back at the helm and has co-written the film with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is backed by Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios. Production has been completed and the movie is in post-production.
A Hindi franchise that grew with each film
The Hindi Drishyam series began in 2015 with a remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam thriller. The first film earned around ₹110 crore worldwide, while Drishyam 2, released in 2022, grew the franchise substantially with a worldwide collection of nearly ₹342 crore, according to reported box-office figures.
The third film therefore arrives as the most consequential chapter yet for the Hindi adaptation, with the title itself making clear that the makers intend to bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to a close.
The conclusion of the Hindi series, however, does not mean the wider *Drishyam* universe is ending.
Malayalam franchise moves beyond Drishyam 3
Mohanlal’s original Malayalam Drishyam franchise released its third instalment on May 21, 2026, with Jeethu Joseph returning as writer-director and Antony Perumbavoor as producer.
Producer Perumbavoor has since confirmed that a fourth instalment is in the works. Speaking at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards, he expressed confidence that another chapter would follow, although reports have noted that a formal confirmation from Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph had not yet been made.
For the Hindi franchise, the focus now shifts to October 2, when Drishyam The Conclusion brings Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar back to cinemas for the final chapter of his long-running battle to protect his family.
