Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has praised Hanuman Ansh, calling the spiritual drama a “satsang” as the low-budget film continues its strong theatrical run.

Ranaut shared her reaction on Instagram, writing: “#Hanumanansh is not a movie it’s a satsang, beautifully woven short stories of people who had first hand experience of #neemkaroribaba. Skip your therapy and go watch it.”

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh was released on August 7 and has crossed the ₹50 crore mark in India, according to the trade figures provided. The film was made on a reported budget of less than ₹2 crore.

The film opened slowly, collecting ₹10 lakh, but its performance strengthened significantly in subsequent weeks. One set of trade figures supplied for the film puts its India gross collection at ₹63.82 crore and net collection at ₹54.13 crore. Another source reports the India net collection at ₹54.74 crore. The figures therefore differ slightly across trade reports.

The turnaround came after a subdued opening fortnight. One source reports that the film collected ₹1.40 crore in its first two weeks before registering ₹10.40 crore in its third week. It reportedly recorded its highest single-day collection of ₹12.75 crore on Day 24.

On Day 26, the film collected ₹8.50 crore, according to the supplied trade reports, surpassing the ₹8.20 crore Day 7 collection attributed to Yash-starrer Toxic.

Sehwag’s reaction resonates with the director

The film’s reception has extended beyond its box-office performance. Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag watched Hanuman Ansh with his child and subsequently shared his reaction on social media.

For Chaturvedi, Sehwag’s response carried particular significance because the filmmaker had long been a cricket fan. Speaking to NDTV, Chaturvedi said, “I have always been a huge cricket fan. The day Virender Sehwag retired, I stopped watching cricket.”

He said Sehwag had watched the film without being approached by the team, making the response especially meaningful to him.

Chaturvedi has also expressed a wish for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma to watch the film. “I want Virat and Anushka to watch the film as well, if something along those lines can be arranged,” he said.

Sequel plans are already underway

Hanuman Ansh centres on the life, teachings and miracles associated with Indian saint Neem Karoli Baba, with Shobhinaw Satyaa portraying the spiritual figure. Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari and Vihaan Shedge also feature in key roles.

The film draws on Chaturvedi’s book Divine Detour. When the project was announced on February 20, 2026, it was described as part of a planned trilogy.

Chaturvedi has now confirmed that work on the second instalment has begun. He said the sequel will explore further chapters of Neem Karoli Baba’s life, beginning with his birthplace, Firozabad, before moving to Agra, Mathura and other locations associated with his journey.

The first film has also attracted attention for its devotional themes, music and performances. Its closing slate indicates that the story of Neem Karoli Baba is not yet complete, setting up the continuation that Chaturvedi has now confirmed.
