Three Generations Unite: Riddhima Kapoor and Daughter Samara Debut in Daadi Ki Shaadi

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of veteran actors Neetu Kapoor and late Rishi Kapoor, is set to make her acting debut at the age of 45 with the film Daadi Ki Shaadi. The film, directed by Ashish R. Mohan, is scheduled to release in cinemas on May 8 and features an ensemble cast including Kapil Sharma.

The project also marks Neetu Kapoor’s return to the big screen after a four-year gap and brings together three generations of the Kapoor family on screen.

Neetu Kapoor Recalls Her Initial Reaction

Speaking about her daughter’s decision to enter films, Neetu Kapoor shared that her first reaction was disbelief.

“When I got a call asking if Riddhima would do this film, I laughed loudly and said, ‘Riddhima? Movies? No, no,’” she said.

She added that she later reconsidered and asked her daughter directly. Riddhima’s response was equally unexpected, as she laughed and said, “Why not?”

How Riddhima Was Cast in the Film

According to Kapil Sharma, Riddhima’s name came up naturally during casting discussions for the role of Neetu Kapoor’s on-screen daughter.

“When the casting for the daughter’s role was being discussed, everyone thought of Riddhima at the same time,” he said, adding that there were initial doubts about whether she would agree to act.

He also noted that her first shot on set appeared natural, suggesting a strong screen presence.

Riddhima Calls the Experience ‘Emotional’

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni described her debut as a deeply personal milestone.

“It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There’s a sense of everything coming full circle,” she said, adding that she draws strength from the memory of her father, Rishi Kapoor.

She acknowledged that starting a new career at this stage of life brought both vulnerability and excitement. “The biggest challenge was stepping into an entirely new world at this stage of life,” she said.

Riddhima also shared that her previous appearance on a reality show helped her become more comfortable in front of the camera.

Working With Family and Advice From Ranbir Kapoor

One of the highlights of the film for Riddhima was working alongside her mother.

“Working with mom was incredibly special. I discovered how effortless and instinctive she is as an actor,” she said.

She also revealed that her brother, Ranbir Kapoor, advised her to “stay natural and don’t overthink,” which helped her ease into her performance.

Samara Sahni Also Makes Her Debut

The film also marks the debut of Riddhima’s 15-year-old daughter, Samara Sahni. Her appearance is reported to be a small role in a song sequence.

Riddhima described the moment as “a proud and emotional” experience, highlighting the significance of sharing the screen with both her daughter and mother.
