Salman Khan has revealed that he has never read a script throughout his decades-long film career, despite starring in more than 100 films across genres including action, romance, comedy and family drama.

Speaking during a conversation with Variety India, the actor said, “I’ve never read a script in my entire life. I’ve written them, but I’ve never read them.”

The statement quickly drew attention online, given Khan’s long-standing position as one of Bollywood’s biggest commercial stars. Over a career that began with a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi and continued with his breakthrough lead performance in Maine Pyar Kiya, Khan has headlined several major box office hits.

The actor has previously indicated that he prefers understanding a film’s overall feel, treatment and commercial appeal rather than reading a screenplay page by page. Despite his admission, Khan has also contributed creatively behind the scenes. He holds writing credits on films including Veer, Baaghi and Dabangg 3.

Salman Khan on luxury watch speculation

During the same interview, Khan also addressed frequent discussion around the expensive watches he is often seen wearing at public appearances and events.

Responding to speculation surrounding the luxury timepieces, some reportedly valued at more than Rs 1 crore, the actor said in Hindi, “You see me wearing watches that don’t mean the watches are mine. It is this friend and that friend’s watch…”

Khan’s accessories and lifestyle have long remained a topic of interest among fans and social media followers, particularly whenever he appears at high-profile events.

Upcoming films

On the professional front, Khan was last seen in a cameo role as Jiva Mahala in Raja Shivaji, starring Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Deshmukh said in an interview that Khan insisted on being part of the project.

Khan’s last full-length theatrical role was in Sikandar, directed by A. R. Murugadoss.

He is set to appear next in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangda Singh. The film was previously titled Battle of Galwan and is produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films. Khan is expected to portray an Indian Army colonel in the film.

Another announced project, tentatively titled SVC63, will see Khan sharing screen space with Nayanthara. The film is being directed by Vamshi Paidipally and backed by Dil Raju.
