Hollywood actor Jason Momoa has showered praise on his Street Fighter co-star Vidyut Jammwal, calling him “one of the most beautiful-looking men” he has ever seen and expressing interest in working in Indian cinema.

Speaking during an interview with Zoom while promoting his upcoming film Supergirl, Momoa spoke warmly about sharing screen space with the Indian action star in the forthcoming adaptation of the popular video game franchise Street Fighter.

“He’s one of the most beautiful-looking men I’ve ever seen in my life. He’s so talented. He’s unbelievable,” Momoa said while discussing Jammwal.

The actor also joked that Jammwal should help him find a role in Bollywood.

“He should get me a job in Bollywood. He should have something set up for me. We should do something together. It’d be fun,” Momoa said, adding, “And I said it, and I’m sticking with it. I can’t wait to come (to India) one day.”

Street Fighter Marks Vidyut Jammwal’s Hollywood Debut

Street Fighter will mark a major milestone in Jammwal’s career as his first Hollywood film. The actor has been cast as Dhalsim, one of the most recognisable characters from Capcom’s long-running video game series.

Promotional material for the film has already generated attention for Jammwal’s dramatic transformation. He appears with a shaved head marked by bold red stripes, paired with rugged orange drapes, metallic accessories and a lean, muscular physique that reflects Dhalsim’s distinctive appearance and mystical persona.

Jammwal’s background in martial arts and Kalaripayattu has also fueled anticipation among fans eager to see his interpretation of the iconic fighter.

A Star-Studded Cast

Directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay by Dalan Musson, Street Fighter features an ensemble cast led by Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Callina Liang as Chun-Li.

The film also stars Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe.

Set in 1993, the film follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken as they are drawn into a new World Warrior Tournament by Chun-Li. The official synopsis describes the story as a battle that forces the characters to confront both a deadly conspiracy and their own pasts.

Growing Global Attention

Jammwal has already attracted international attention ahead of the film’s release. During CinemaCon in Las Vegas, he invited fellow cast members to join him in chanting the Gayatri Mantra during the launch of the film’s global trailer.

The upcoming adaptation is being co-produced by Legendary and Japanese video game developer Capcom, with Paramount Pictures handling distribution. Street Fighter is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16.

Momoa, who is also set to appear as the anti-hero Lobo in Supergirl alongside Milly Alcock, continues to promote the superhero film ahead of its June 26 release.
