Veteran Actor Bharat Kapoor Passes Away at 80

Veteran actor Bharat Kapoor passed away on Monday at the age of 80. He died following a cardiac arrest after being unwell for the past few days.

He breathed his last around 3:30 pm at a hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were performed later the same evening in the presence of family and close friends.

Health Issues in Final Days

According to close associate Avtar Gill, Kapoor had been unwell for three days before his death. He also mentioned that the actor had been hospitalised earlier.

Gill said, “I just came from the cremation… He was not feeling well from last three days.” He added that Kapoor’s health had deteriorated rapidly in his final days.

Prayer Meet Scheduled

A prayer meet has been scheduled for April 30. It will take place between 5 pm and 7 pm at the North Bombay Association.

Family members, friends, and colleagues from the film and theatre community are expected to attend and pay their respects.

Tributes Pour In From Industry

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit expressed grief over Kapoor’s demise. He shared a heartfelt message remembering their early collaborations.

“Sad to know about the demise of veteran theatre and film actor Bharat Kapoor ji… A great human being. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

A Career Spanning Four Decades

Kapoor built a career that spanned nearly four decades in Hindi cinema and television. He was known for his versatility and strong screen presence.

He often portrayed supporting roles, including antagonists and authoritative characters such as police officers and lawyers.

Notable Film and Television Work

His film credits include Noorie, Ram Balram, Love Story, Bazaar, Ghulami, Aakhree Raasta, Satyamev Jayate, Swarg, Khuda Gawah, and Rang.

He also appeared in later films such as Barsaat, Saajan Chale Sasural, and Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities.

In addition, Kapoor made a mark on television with shows like Campus, Parampara, Saans, Amanat, Tara, and Kahani Chandrakanta Ki, among others.
