Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe have been cast in Bluefly, an upcoming sci-fi action thriller directed by Nimród Antal. A Black-Ops Mission With a Science Fiction Twist
Written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank, Bluefly is set deep in the Congo and follows a grieving United Nations translator who is recruited for a covert military operation to recover a crashed aircraft that officially should not exist.
As a Special Operations team moves through militia-controlled territory, what begins as a recovery mission turns into a dangerous fight for survival. The closer the team gets to the wreckage, the more they discover that the aircraft carries a secret that was never meant to be brought back.
The makers have not yet revealed the characters that Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Russell Crowe will portray.
Cast and Filmmakers Express Confidence
Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser described Bluefly as a high-stakes sci-fi thriller led by a strong cast, saying Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Russell Crowe would bring depth and intensity to the film.
Director Nimród Antal called the project “an intense, character-driven thriller wrapped inside a bold science-fiction premise,” adding that it combines grounded storytelling with suspense and that he was excited to work with the cast and creative team.
Expanding International Slate
Bluefly adds another major international project to Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ growing Hollywood portfolio. The actor recently appeared in Heads of State and The Bluff and is also attached to the survival thriller Reset alongside Orlando Bloom.
She is also set to appear in S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming action-adventure film Varanasi, which is scheduled for release in April 2027.
Russell Crowe, meanwhile, continues to expand his slate with projects including Unabomber, The Weight, Billion Dollar Spy and Amazon MGM Studios’ Highlander reboot.
With filming expected to begin later this year and international sales launching at TIFF, Bluefly marks a significant addition to both stars’ upcoming global releases.
