Kiara Advani Opens Up About Postpartum Struggles and Sidharth Malhotra’s Support

Actor Kiara Advani has spoken candidly about the emotional challenges she faced after becoming a mother, sharing how husband Sidharth Malhotra supported her during her postpartum journey after the birth of their daughter, Saraayah Malhotra.
In a podcast conversation with Raj Shamani, Kiara reflected on the emotional changes that followed childbirth and described motherhood as a major turning point in her life.
“There was a point where my emotions were going all over the place, and he was promoting his movie. So he would come late at night, stay with the baby and me, and then return to work in the morning,” Kiara said.
“At that time, I don’t know if it was me missing him at that point in time or what, but everything was triggering me. Anything would make me cry.”
‘Sometimes I just wanted to vent’
Kiara shared that their daughter’s pediatrician advised Sidharth to help her step out of the repetitive routine that often comes with caring for a newborn. She recalled that the actor began taking her out for evening drives every day to help her feel better emotionally.
“I remember my daughter’s pediatrician told him, ‘just take her out for a drive every night. She needs to be out there, let her get the fresh air, let her breathe because it becomes a routine to sleep, feed the baby,’” she said.
“He would take me out for a drive every night. Sometimes I just wanted to vent without getting advice in return.”
The actor also spoke about how conversations around parenting often focus on practical responsibilities while overlooking a mother’s emotional well-being. She said men try their best to support their partners during pregnancy and postpartum, but many are not guided on the emotional aspects of the experience.
Kiara on motherhood and identity shift
During the interaction, Kiara became emotional while discussing how motherhood changed her perspective on life and work. She described the transition as an “identity shift” and said she had to learn to be kinder to herself.
“Everything changes in you as a personality. I feel before and after becoming a mum, I’m a completely different person in every way,” she said.
Kiara added that postpartum experiences vary from person to person and should be discussed more openly.
“Postpartum should be something that’s spoken of much more. Everyone’s journey is different postpartum. It hits you in different ways physically and emotionally,” she said.
The actor also admitted that social media affected her emotionally during the early months after childbirth and said she gradually learned to set boundaries and avoid being overly critical of herself.
Family life and first Mother’s Day
Kiara and Sidharth welcomed their first child, daughter Saraayah, on July 15, 2025. The couple announced the birth on Instagram before later revealing their daughter’s name publicly.
The actors first met while working on Shershaah and got married in Jaisalmer in February 2023.
Kiara also shared glimpses from her first Mother’s Day celebrations on Instagram. In one of the photos, Sidharth was seen serving her chocolate pancakes arranged to spell “MOM” in peanut butter. The celebration also included a themed cake and family photographs featuring their daughter.
In her caption, Kiara wrote, “We take our celebrations very seriously! This year was extra special being my first.”
