Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has joined flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in Assam’s Sivasagar district, travelling to affected communities with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF). During her visit, Pednekar met flood-hit families, interacted with volunteers and helped distribute essential relief supplies.

Videos from the visit show Pednekar reaching inundated areas by boat and walking through floodwater to reach residents. She also shared footage of herself distributing relief material and speaking with villagers.

Pednekar described the need for sustained assistance in the affected areas, writing that recovery begins when help reaches communities rather than simply when floodwaters recede. The BDRF has been involved in relief operations in Assam, while Pednekar has used her social media platforms to draw attention to the crisis and encourage support.

Bhumi Pednekar’s Earlier Appeal for Assam

Pednekar had previously appealed to the public to contribute to relief efforts as the flood situation deteriorated across Assam. In a video shared in July, she highlighted the scale of displacement and damage and urged people to help provide supplies and support to affected communities. India Today reported at the time that more than 5.24 lakh people were still affected across five districts, while the reported flood-related death toll had reached 68.

The actor also highlighted the difficulties faced by residents in areas where access remained restricted by floodwaters. In her recent visit, she documented communities that could still be reached only by boat, underscoring the continuing challenges for relief workers.

The latest visit comes as Assam continues to deal with the effects of a severe flood crisis. The Times of India reported on August 8 that official figures put the death toll at 97, with relief and rescue operations continuing in the worst-affected districts.

Randeep Hooda Also Joins Relief Operations

Pednekar’s visit follows actor Randeep Hooda’s recent relief work in Sivasagar. Hooda worked with Global Sikhs, distributing essential supplies and participating in community relief activities. Global Sikhs says its Assam mission is focused on emergency food supplies, drinking water, hygiene kits and essential household items for flood-affected families.

The organisation has described the relief operation as an effort to reach vulnerable and remote communities where access to basic services has been disrupted by flooding.

Other public figures have also contributed to Assam’s relief response. The Times of India reported that Kartik Aaryan donated Rs 1 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, while Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap also contributed to relief efforts.

For Pednekar, the Assam visit follows her earlier public appeals and marks a move from raising awareness online to participating directly in relief work on the ground.
