Aamir Khan’s Stepbrother Hyder Ali Khan Faces Hardship, Claims Eva Grover

Actor Eva Grover has spoken publicly about her former marriage to Hyder Ali Khan, alleging that Aamir Khan’s stepbrother is now living in extreme financial hardship while continuing to struggle with schizophrenia. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Grover claimed Hyder has no permanent home, struggles to arrange food, and often depends on friends or temporary accommodation in a chawl.

Grover also revisited her marriage to Hyder, alleging it was marked by domestic violence that began shortly after their wedding in 2000. She said the couple married after knowing each other for only 18 days, having eloped because their interfaith relationship was opposed by her family.

According to Grover, she did not know Hyder had schizophrenia before the marriage. She said he appeared calm, courteous and caring during their brief courtship, but alleged his behaviour changed dramatically within days of the wedding.

“He had schizophrenia. At that time, I didn’t really understand what schizophrenia meant,” Grover said

Grover alleged the first incident of physical violence occurred on the third day of their marriage during an intimate moment. She further claimed Hyder later became increasingly suspicious, frequently imagined incidents that had not occurred, and consumed alcohol heavily, which she believed worsened his condition. She also alleged that his parents attempted to intervene but were unable to stop the abuse.

She said she remained in the marriage for five years, hoping the relationship would improve. Grover alleged that after the birth of their daughter, divorce proceedings began and custody ultimately remained with Hyder’s family. She claimed she did not see her daughter for the next 10 years but continued sending money for her education. According to Grover, their daughter is now 19 and visits her regularly.

During the interview, Grover also made claims about Aamir Khan’s relationship with Hyder’s side of the family. She alleged the actor knew she was facing difficulties in her marriage and claimed he maintained distance from that branch of the family. She further made allegations regarding events involving filmmaker Tahir Hussain during his final years. Those claims have not been independently verified.

Despite the allegations she made about their marriage, Grover said she feels sympathy for her former husband. She claimed Hyder is currently surrounded by people who continue to provide him with alcohol and lacks adequate care or support.

Hyder Ali Khan is the son of Shehnaz Khan from her first marriage and was raised by filmmaker Tahir Hussain after Shehnaz married him. He is not Tahir Hussain’s biological son. Before pursuing acting, Hyder worked as a cabin crew member with Qatar Airways.
