Khan had been receiving medical treatment at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital for approximately 15 days before passing away. According to his business partner Shivam and his son Mohsin, the actor was first diagnosed with cancer nearly five years ago before the illness recently relapsed.

Tributes From Industry Colleagues

The news of Khan’s passing brought widespread sorrow across the film fraternity. Actor Sunny Deol took to social media to express his condolences, writing.

“Sad to hear about Mushtaq Khan. He was a nice human being and a fine actor. Have fond memories of him. My condolences to his family. May they find strength in this difficult hour.”

Rajpal Yadav shared an emotional account of visiting Khan at the hospital just hours before his death.

“This afternoon I went to meet Mushtaq Bhai, talked to him. He saw me, shook my hand and was listening to all our conversations and reacting to them,” Yadav wrote.

“I still can’t believe that the person I met two hours ago, the person I shook hands with, is no longer among us.”

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee, who directed Khan in the hit comedy *Welcome*, remembered him as a remarkable artist.

“Shocked and speechless by the passing of Mushtaq Bhai (my balu). A truly remarkable artist and a beautiful soul,” Bazmee posted.

Actor Sanjay Mishra, speaking to ANI, recalled Khan serving as a guiding figure during his career.

“At one point in my life, he became a guardian figure to me; whenever I needed guidance, I would turn to him for advice,” Mishra said.

Adding that the veteran actor deserved broader recognition for his talent. Actor Anupam Kher also shared a video tribute recalling their extensive work together in Mahesh Bhatt and Satish Kaushik films during the 1990s and 2000s.
