The reported move comes as the film industry increasingly explores backend and profit-sharing arrangements in place of large upfront star fees.

Kapoor is attached to the project as the female lead, playing Madhuri Jain Grover, wife of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover. More recent reporting has established that she is also expected to produce the film in association with a studio. The reported ₹20 crore figure for her acting fee, however, remains unconfirmed.

Shraddha Kapoor’s reported producer arrangement

Under the arrangement described in the Free Press Journal report, Kapoor could take a share of the film’s IPR rather than receiving the entire reported amount as an upfront acting fee. Aamir Khan has exited the project

The film’s casting has changed since Kapoor was first linked to it. Aamir Khan, who had been expected to play Ashneer Grover, reportedly left the project in July 2026 following creative differences with Mody.

Following Khan’s exit, Kapoor and Mody are reportedly continuing with the project and searching for another actor to play Grover. India Today reported that discussions were underway with two or three potential names, while NDTV Profit also reported that the team was looking for a younger actor for the central role.

Actor Imran Khan was subsequently linked to the role in media reports, but he denied having heard of the project, saying, “I have not even heard of this project. This is not true.”

What the reported deal could mean

If Kapoor does proceed as a producer with an IPR stake, the arrangement would represent a shift from a straightforward acting-fee model toward a structure that gives her an ownership interest in the project’s potential earnings.
