Deepika Padukone Reportedly Paid 7 Times Less Than Allu Arjun for Raaka

Upcoming sci-fi action film Raaka is generating buzz even before its release, with reported remuneration figures of its star cast drawing widespread attention.
According to reports, Allu Arjun is set to earn approximately ₹175 crore for the film, while co-star Deepika Padukone is reportedly being paid around ₹25 crore—nearly seven times less.
Rashmika Mandanna, another lead in the film, is said to be receiving between ₹5 crore and ₹7 crore.
It is important to note that these figures are based on media reports and have not been officially confirmed by the makers.
Allu Arjun to Play Multiple Roles
Reports suggest that Allu Arjun will portray three distinct characters in Raaka, including a police officer, a half-human half-monster figure, and a father to the central characters. His multi-layered role is cited as a key factor behind his reported high remuneration.
The film marks a major collaboration between Allu Arjun and director Atlee, known for delivering large-scale commercial entertainers like Jawan.
Deepika Padukone’s Role and Casting Developments
Deepika Padukone is reportedly playing a warrior princess in the film. Early glimpses and reports indicate her character will be involved in action-heavy sequences, potentially set in a dystopian or alternate-universe backdrop.
The project also marks her reunion with Atlee after Jawan. Reports indicate that she chose Raaka after discussions for Spirit with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga did not materialise due to scheduling considerations.
Rashmika Mandanna and Supporting Cast
Rashmika Mandanna is reportedly part of the film in a significant role, with some reports suggesting she may portray the antagonist, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The film is also expected to feature actors like Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor in key roles.
A Big-Budget Sci-Fi Spectacle
Mounted on a reported budget of ₹700–800 crore, Raaka is positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. The film is said to explore themes of alternate timelines and parallel universes, blending science fiction with action and fantasy elements.
The makers unveiled the film’s title and first look on Allu Arjun’s birthday, offering a glimpse of his transformation into a half-human, half-monster character with a striking visual design.
Production is currently underway, with the film targeting a theatrical release in early 2027.
Industry Spotlight on Pay Disparity
The reported pay gap between the lead actors has once again brought attention to ongoing discussions around compensation disparities in the film industry. While such debates have persisted for years, the figures associated with Raaka have intensified conversations within entertainment circles.
