Imran Khan Confirms Film Comeback With Netflix Rom-Com After 10 Years

Imran Khan has confirmed his long-awaited return to films, revealing that he has completed shooting for Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, a Netflix original that marks his first lead role since 2015. The romantic comedy is now in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year, with the release date yet to be announced by the streaming platform.

The actor shared the update during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, ending years of speculation about whether he would return to acting after stepping away from the industry following Katti Batti (2015).

“I have just finished shooting a new movie. It’s my first movie in 10 years and we’re in post-production right now. It’s called Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. It’s for Netflix and is scheduled to come out at the end of this year. It’s a grown-up romantic comedy… age-appropriate to where I am now,” Khan said.

The film co-stars Gurfateh Pirzada and represents a shift from the youthful romantic roles that defined Khan’s early career. Explaining why he chose this project for his comeback, the actor said it reflects both his personal and professional growth over the past decade.

“I’ve just worked with a really great young actor, Gurfateh Pirzada. Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. It’s the one I simply had to make after 10 years,” he said.

A reunion with Danish Aslam

Khan had previously revealed that the film is directed by Danish Aslam, who also directed him in Break Ke Baad (2010). Speaking earlier to Hindustan Times, the actor described the new project as a natural continuation of the creative partnership they began 15 years ago.

He said the story reflects the life experiences both he and Aslam have gained over the years, noting that the director is now married while he has gone through a divorce. Khan described the film as a personal project driven by a desire to tell a story with longtime collaborators rather than simply make a commercial comeback.

Return after a decade away

Khan’s last full-length feature as a lead actor was Nikkhil Advani’s Katti Batti, opposite Kangana Ranaut, released in 2015. Since then, he has largely remained away from the public spotlight despite continued interest from fans about a possible return.

Earlier this year, he made a brief cameo appearance in Vir Das’ Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, alongside special appearances by Aamir Khan. However, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum marks his first full-fledged return in a leading role.
