The Blockbuster hit movie “English Vinglish” has recently turned 10. It is a comedy-drama movie starring Late Sridevi and directed by Gauri Shinde.
English Vinglish was the comeback movie for Sridevi who took a long break from the industry to focus on motherhood. Made on a budget of 10 crores it grossed more than 100 crores at the box office.
The movie showcased a woman who was not appreciated by her family as she was not fluent in English. The character was played by Sridevi and her journey throughout the movie surprised the audience.
Though Sridevi passed in 2018, due to accidental drowning in a hotel. Her contribution to the industry is largely praised by fans around the world.
In a recent interview, Gauri Shinde was asked if there would be a sequel to “English Vinglish”. Gauri replied by saying we received a lot of love from the audience.
She further added that she doesn’t think the movie should be touched. The movie has touched so many hearts she doesn’t want to exploit the fact and get it wrong because of comparison.
Though for the 10th anniversary Gauri Shinde has decided that she will auction the sarees that the legendary actress Sri Devi wore in the movie.
