Vindu Dara Singh Reacts to Ramayana Teaser, Slams Adipurush for Excessive Changes

The teaser of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, has sparked widespread discussion online, drawing both praise and skepticism. Actor Vindu Dara Singh has now weighed in, appreciating the film’s scale while issuing a strong caution to its makers.

Vindu, whose father Dara Singh immortalized Lord Hanuman in Ramayan, emphasized the emotional connection audiences have with the original televised epic.

“There’s a Strict Rule”: Stay True to the Original

While praising the teaser’s visual appeal, Vindu stressed that the film’s success depends on how closely it adheres to Ramanand Sagar’s iconic version.

He said, “The teaser is fantastic. But there’s a strict rule here. The Ramayan made by Ramanand Sagar ji is completely embedded in all of our hearts and minds… If this film matches that, then the film will be a superhit. It will be a record-breaking hit.”

He warned that excessive creative liberties could alienate viewers, adding, “If the new Ramayan is made with too much freedom, people will reject it… if they overdo it, people will not accept it.”

His remarks highlight the deep-rooted cultural and emotional expectations tied to the epic.

Praise for Visual Scale and Production

Despite his caution, Vindu acknowledged the film’s technical strengths, crediting producer Namit Malhotra for its grand scale and high-quality visual effects.

“Namit Malhotra knows how to create stunning visuals. The film’s special effects are superb,” he noted, while reiterating that visual excellence alone may not guarantee audience acceptance without narrative authenticity.

The film’s music is composed by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, further adding to its global appeal.

“Way Better Than Adipurush”

Vindu also compared the teaser favorably to Adipurush, which faced criticism upon release.

“From whatever I’ve seen so far, this looks much better than that. Woh toh pata nahi kya tha… I could tell just by watching the trailer that it was going to flop,” he said, attributing *Adipurush*’s failure to excessive deviation from the source material.

He added, “You can’t deviate so much and have Hanuman ji saying all those dialogues.”

On Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama

Praising Ranbir Kapoor’s appearance, Vindu said the actor looks “very beautiful, very lovely as Ram.” However, he acknowledged that comparisons with Arun Govil—who famously portrayed Rama in Sagar’s series—are inevitable.

“When you close your eyes, Arun Govil ji is Rama, and Dad is Hanuman ji,” he said, while expressing confidence that Ranbir’s performance would be “classy” if it follows the essence of earlier portrayals.

Cast, Scale, and Release Plans

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a star-studded cast including Sai Pallavi as Sita and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with reports of Raghav Juyal in a key role.

The project is mounted on a massive budget of approximately ₹4,000 crore and is planned as a two-part cinematic saga. The first installment is expected to release around Diwali 2026, followed by the second in 2027.
