Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s Relationship Was ‘Violent’, Claims Producer Shailendra Singh

The long-discussed relationship between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has resurfaced in headlines after film producer Shailendra Singh, once a close friend of Salman Khan, described their romance as a “violent love story” in a recent interview.

Salman and Aishwarya, who dated in the early 2000s, were one of Bollywood’s most celebrated couples. However, their breakup was equally controversial and remains one of the industry’s most debated personal chapters.

“A Violent Love Story, Like Romeo and Juliet”

Speaking to filmmaker and interviewer Siddharth Kannan, Shailendra Singh recalled an incident from the time when Aishwarya and Salman were together. Without going into graphic detail, he alleged that Salman once reached Aishwarya’s residence late at night in a fit of anger, creating a public disturbance.

Referring to a widely reported incident from that period, Shailendra said Aishwarya later appeared at an awards ceremony wearing dark sunglasses, which had sparked speculation at the time.

“As they say in *Romeo and Juliet*, it was a violent love story,” Shailendra stated. “Salman is extremely passionate, and Aishwarya is a very dignified and respectful woman. She is brilliant.”

Limits of His Knowledge and Respect for Privacy

The producer clarified that Aishwarya never personally discussed the incident or her relationship issues with him. He emphasised that they were not close enough for such conversations and urged respect for her privacy.

“I knew her from her early modelling days,” he said, adding that Rajeev Mulchandani, a model, was Aishwarya’s first serious relationship before Salman Khan.

Aishwarya Rai’s Early Career Struggles

In the same interview, Shailendra Singh spoke fondly about Aishwarya’s early career. He revealed that she did her first advertisements under his production for just ₹5,000, long before winning Miss World in 1994 and becoming a global star.

He praised her dignity and grace, describing her as someone who has always carried herself with composure, even during difficult phases of her life.

Apart from discussing Salman and Aishwarya’s relationship, Shailendra also opened up about his fallout with Salman Khan. He said their friendship ended after a professional disagreement during a film meeting, which left him feeling insulted.

Once known for partying together every Monday night in Bandra, their bond eventually broke following that incident, and the two never reconciled.

Using a metaphor, Shailendra described Salman Khan’s transformation over the years, saying the actor was once like a “tiger of the jungle” but had become more guarded with fame and success.

“Success makes you cautious,” he said, adding that people around superstars often reinforce their sense of authority, sometimes isolating them from honest feedback.
