The much-anticipated collaboration between Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone and director Atlee has officially been titled Raaka. The announcement was made by Sun Pictures on April 8, coinciding with Arjun’s 44th birthday.

The reveal included a striking first-look poster featuring Arjun in a dark, creature-inspired avatar. The imagery leans heavily into fantasy elements, with claw-like features and prosthetic detailing suggesting a complex and possibly menacing character.

Atlee described the project as deeply personal, stating:

“‘Raaka’ isn’t just a film… it’s a part of me I’ve carried for years. For 18 years, I held on to one idea, never letting it fade. It tested me, shaped me, and stayed with me through everything. And honestly… this is just the beginning.”

A High-Budget Fantasy With Global Ambitions

Backed by Sun Pictures, Raaka is positioned as a large-scale fantasy-action film aimed at a global audience. The production house called it a project that combines Atlee’s storytelling with Allu Arjun’s “iconic stature” in a film “built for the world.”

The film is reportedly mounted on a massive budget estimated between ₹800–900 crore, with significant allocation for VFX and production design, signaling a technically ambitious cinematic experience.

First Look Hints at Dark, Creature-Driven Narrative

The title poster presents Arjun in a rugged, partially concealed look, featuring kohl-rimmed eyes, a half-bald appearance, and a claw emerging from layered clothing. The visual tone suggests a fantasy narrative with possible sci-fi undertones.

The makers also released the poster in multiple languages, underlining a pan-India and international release strategy.

The title Raaka itself translates to “arrival” or “coming” in Telugu, hinting at the emergence of a powerful or transformative force within the story.

Star Cast and Key Collaborations

Raaka marks the first on-screen collaboration between Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone. It also reunites Padukone with Atlee after their work on Jawan, which starred Shah Rukh Khan.

The project follows a landmark phase in Arjun’s career, especially after the success of Pushpa: The Rise and its sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule. The latter emerged as one of India’s highest-grossing films, alongside Dangal and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

Production Timeline and Release Plans

The film, previously referred to as AA22xA6, is currently in production. While an official release date has not been confirmed, it is expected to hit theatres in 2027.

Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, with Atlee serving as writer-director.
