Paresh Rawal Applauds R Madhavan in ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Says “I Should Have Been Part of It”

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has heaped praise on the blockbuster Dhurandhar 2, calling it more than just a film and admitting he wished he had been part of the franchise. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller has emerged as a massive box office success, crossing ₹1000 crore net in India and continuing its strong run globally.
Speaking in multiple interviews, Rawal revealed that he has watched both installments of the franchise multiple times and remains deeply impressed by its storytelling.
“I am extremely impressed with ‘Dhurandhar’. I absolutely loved the film. I still haven’t gotten over it,” he said, adding that he has watched both parts more than once and is eager to revisit them again.
Calls the Film a “Saga,” Praises Layered Storytelling
Rawal emphasized that the sequel goes beyond conventional entertainment, highlighting its intricate narrative.
“The first part was entertaining, but the second ‘Dhurandhar’ is packed with so much detail… After watching, you realise there are multiple layers to it,” he said.
He further described the franchise as a “saga,” noting that it left a lasting impression on him. “For the first time in my life, I felt that it would have been fun if I had been in it,” he admitted.
Admiration for R Madhavan’s Performance
A key highlight for Rawal was R Madhavan’s portrayal of Ajay Sanyal, a character inspired by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
“When I saw that Madhavan’s character is inspired by Ajit Doval ji, I felt very happy. He is a fine actor, and Ajit Doval ji is a true hero of our country,” Rawal said.
The actor himself had previously portrayed a similar character—Govind Bhardwaj—in Uri: The Surgical Strike, also directed by Dhar. He noted that it was interesting to see two different interpretations of a similar figure on screen.
“I Should Have Been Part of It”: Rawal’s Honest Admission
Rawal candidly shared that he felt a rare sense of missing out after watching the films.
“Zindagi main pehli baar mujhe laga main hota ismein toh maza aata,” he said, expressing that he genuinely wished to be part of the project.
He even revealed a light-hearted conversation with Dhar, joking that he could have played a twin brother to Madhavan’s character.
“I jokingly told Aditya… that Ajit Doval sahab has a twin brother—one looks like me and the other looks like R Madhavan,” he said.
