Actor Iñaki Godoy, best known for playing Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation of One Piece, has expressed a strong interest in exploring opportunities in Indian cinema following the show’s global success.

The 22-year-old actor shared that he is open to working across countries and cultures, emphasizing that compelling storytelling matters more than language or geography.

“A good movie is a good movie. I want to do good films, so count me in,” Godoy said, adding, “Bollywood, I’m waiting. Knock on the door.”

Praise for Indian Cinema and RRR

Speaking about Indian films, Godoy singled out RRR as a standout. The blockbuster, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, left a strong impression on the actor.

“I love RRR. That’s an awesome movie,” he said, highlighting his appreciation for large-scale, emotionally driven storytelling.

Godoy also described India’s film industry as “energetic and full of life,” signaling genuine enthusiasm for potentially collaborating with filmmakers from the region.

Expanding Beyond Borders

Before his breakout role in One Piece, Godoy appeared in projects like The Imperfects. With his rising global profile, he is now looking to expand his career beyond familiar territories.

The actor noted that he is open to diverse roles across industries, as long as the projects offer meaningful narratives and creative challenges.

Reflecting on One Piece Success

Godoy also spoke about the overwhelming response to One Piece, acknowledging that success in today’s entertainment landscape is far from guaranteed.

“When you’re doing something, you always hope for the best, but things are difficult. Everybody is fighting for people’s attention,” he said.

He added that the abundance of content across platforms has made it harder for individual projects to stand out, prompting him to keep expectations realistic.

“There’s so much stuff to watch, even on your phone, so I always keep my expectations a little bit low.”

Despite this, the actor described the show’s organic global reception as a rewarding experience, with audiences embracing the series and sharing it widely.
