‘OG Duo Is Back’: Fans React as Akshay Kumar Channels Classic Comic Energy in Bhooth Bangla

The makers of Bhooth Bangla have unveiled a new motion poster featuring Akshay Kumar in an eerie yet comic avatar, intensifying anticipation for the horror-comedy’s theatrical release on April 10, 2026.

The film marks Kumar’s much-awaited reunion with director Priyadarshan after 14 years. The actor-director duo previously delivered popular comedies such as Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Garam Masala and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

The newly released visual leans into a dramatic horror aesthetic while retaining comic undertones. Kumar appears seated on a throne carved with demonic faces and horned details, accessorized with rudraksha beads and a stylized look reminiscent of his earlier genre-defining roles. Sharing the poster, he wrote: “Dus ko denge das-tak, intezar karo tab tak… Let the fun begin! #BhoothBangla in cinemas on 10th April 2026 👻”.

Fans responded enthusiastically online, with several describing the reunion as the return of the “OG duo.”

‘Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge’ Sets the Tone

The promotional campaign gathered momentum with the release of the film’s first track, “Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge.” The song features Kumar performing energetic dance moves alongside performers dressed as ghosts.

Sharing the track, the actor posted: “Volume badhaao. Bangle se pehla gaana aa chuka hai… Aur iss gaane ka Bhooth sab pe chadega! #RamJiAakeBhalaKarenge.”

Composed by Pritam with lyrics by Kumaar, the track features vocals by Dev Arijit, with a rap segment written and performed by Mellow D. The song has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

The teaser and full song prompted mixed reactions online. While many viewers praised Kumar’s comic timing and expressive performance—drawing comparisons to his 2000s-era roles—others expressed reservations about the track. Several social media users described it as a nostalgic return to form, with one writing that it brought back “2006 wala Akshay Kumar” vibes.

Ektaa Kapoor on Script Changes and Song Launch

Producer Ektaa Kapoor recently shared details about the film’s development. According to Kapoor, Kumar agreed to join the project soon after hearing the story. When informed that Priyadarshan would direct, the actor expressed even greater enthusiasm.

Kapoor also revealed that Priyadarshan suggested changes to the script before formally coming on board. Once revisions were agreed upon, the core team finalized the collaboration within days.

The first song’s promotional launch was hosted by Kapoor at her residence, marking the beginning of a wider promotional rollout.

Cast, Crew and Production Details

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms, in association with Cape of Good Films, Bhooth Bangla is jointly produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor.

The ensemble cast includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, Manoj Tiwari and Rajesh Sharma, among others.

The story is written by Akash A. Kaushik, with screenplay credits shared by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair and Priyadarshan. Dialogues are by Rohan Shankar.

According to Priyadarshan, the film is a horror-comedy rooted in elements of Indian mythology and black magic, with inspiration drawn from ancient texts such as the Vedas and the Mahabharata. The makers have clarified that the film is not connected to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise despite tonal similarities.

Shot across multiple locations including London, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, Bhooth Bangla is positioned as a family entertainer blending supernatural chaos with situational comedy.

A Reunion With High Expectations

Bhooth Bangla marks the seventh collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan. Over the past two decades, their partnerships have yielded several commercially successful comedies. The 2026 release is being closely watched as the duo returns to a genre that defined much of their earlier success.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on April 10, 2026.
