Naga Chaitanya Addresses Bollywood Absence After Laal Singh Chaddha

Actor Naga Chaitanya has addressed ongoing speculation about why he hasn’t signed another Hindi film after his Bollywood debut in Laal Singh Chaddha. The film, led by Aamir Khan, received a lukewarm response at the box office, prompting rumors that the actor had stepped away from Hindi cinema.
Chaitanya has now clarified that the film’s performance has had no impact on his career choices.
‘No Specific Reason’ Behind Hindi Film Gap
Speaking about his absence from Bollywood, Chaitanya emphasized that there is no deliberate decision to stay away.
“There is no specific reason. Definitely, my eyes are open. It’s just after that film, I’ve been working on projects here and they’ve taken a lot of my time and effort.”
He added that his current focus has been on Telugu films, which have required significant time and commitment.
“There is no special reason for not doing Hindi films. I have just been busy with back-to-back projects in Telugu, so I couldn’t allocate time for Hindi movies.”
Busy Schedule With Demanding Telugu Projects
The actor pointed to the complexity of his recent and upcoming projects as a major factor. His films Thandel and Vrushakarma have required extensive effort, particularly in terms of pre-production and visual effects.
“Both Thandel and Vrushakarma are extremely complex films… almost 80 percent of Vrushakarma revolves around VFX. When you work with such stories, the pipeline of work gets very complex.”
He stressed that his focus remains on giving his full attention to each project rather than planning his filmography around specific industries.
Positive Experience on Bollywood Debut
Despite the underwhelming box office performance of Laal Singh Chaddha, Chaitanya described his experience working on the film as highly rewarding.
“I really enjoyed myself shooting for that film. I learned so much and the people there were so warm and took such good care of me. The experience has been nothing short of amazing.”
He also dismissed the idea that a film’s success or failure influences his decisions.
“We’re mature enough to understand that some films have ups and downs, but that does not stop us from our pursuit.”
Open to Hindi Films With the Right Script
Chaitanya reiterated that he remains open to returning to Bollywood, but only if the project aligns with his creative interests.
“I’m open to doing a Hindi film, but it’s something that has to motivate me. It has to be fresh… it’s about what kind of characters and roles I get.”
He also highlighted how evolving audience preferences have reduced language barriers in Indian cinema.
“Language is not a barrier anymore… for me, it’s more about the character that’s going to really drive me for doing a project.”
Focus on Upcoming Projects
Currently, Chaitanya is focused on his Telugu slate, including Vrushakarma, which is generating significant buzz. He also recently saw success with Thandel, reinforcing his strong presence in regional cinema.
