Trade Reactions
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the film’s box office run as a “tsunami,” noting that social media chatter had no impact on its theatrical performance. Filmmaker Karan Johar echoed the sentiment, calling the success of Border 2 and Dhurandhar a sign that “Bollywood is back.”
Comparison With Other Big Releases
While Border 2 has not surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan Republic Day record (₹70.5 crore), it now ranks among the top Republic Day earners of all time. The film has also become:
- Varun Dhawan’s highest-grossing film
- Ahan Shetty’s first ₹100 crore grosser
- Sunny Deol’s second-highest grosser, after Gadar 2
