Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has opened to record-breaking numbers at the global box office, setting a new benchmark for Hindi cinema. Released worldwide on March 19, the high-octane spy thriller witnessed massive footfall across theatres and strong occupancy throughout the day.

Day 1 India Box Office: ₹100 Crore Milestone Achieved

According to early estimates, Dhurandhar 2 collected approximately ₹102–₹102.55 crore net in India on its opening day, making it the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹100 crore mark in a single day.

Including ₹43 crore from paid previews (March 18), the film’s domestic total surged to around ₹145.5 crore net within two days.

The Hindi version dominated collections with nearly ₹99 crore, while regional versions in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam contributed smaller shares.

Worldwide Box Office: Crosses ₹200 Crore on Day 1

Globally, the film delivered a staggering performance, earning approximately ₹236.63 crore gross on Day 1.

India gross: ₹172.63 crore
Overseas: ₹64 crore

This places Dhurandhar 2 among the biggest opening-day grossers in Indian cinema history, second only to Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The film also performed strongly in international markets, collecting about $2 million in U.S. previews alone, with projections suggesting a strong opening weekend overseas.

Beats Major Bollywood and Pan-India Blockbusters

The film has surpassed opening-day collections of several recent hits, including:

Jawan (₹75 crore)
Pathaan (₹57 crore)
Animal (₹63–64 crore)
Stree 2 (₹54–55 crore)

It has also reportedly outperformed major pan-India releases like RRR, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Kalki 2898 AD, and KGF: Chapter 2 in terms of opening-day worldwide collections.

Notably, in the Hindi market, Dhurandhar 2 exceeded the Hindi version collections of Pushpa 2, marking a significant milestone for Bollywood.

Record-Breaking Preview and Advance Sales

Even before its official release, the film set records with:

₹43 crore in paid previews — among the highest ever
Massive advance bookings, with nearly 9.25 lakh tickets sold across national chains

These numbers contributed significantly to the film’s unprecedented opening momentum.

Strong Audience Response Despite Long Runtime

Despite a lengthy runtime of 3 hours and 49 minutes, the film maintained high occupancy levels across major cities. Reports indicate packed shows throughout the day, reflecting strong audience interest and positive word of mouth.

Cast, Scale, and Franchise Momentum

Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including:

R. Madhavan
Arjun Rampal
Sanjay Dutt

The sequel builds on the massive success of its predecessor, which reportedly grossed over ₹1300 crore worldwide. With a production budget estimated between ₹250–280 crore, the film has already made a powerful start toward profitability.

Conclusion

With a record-breaking Day 1, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has firmly positioned itself as one of the biggest cinematic events of the year. Its historic opening not only resets benchmarks for Bollywood but also signals a potentially massive box office run in the coming weeks.
