Alia Bhatt, Ram Gopal Varma Praise ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Trailer as Buzz Builds for Ranveer Singh Film

The official trailer for Dhurandhar: The Revenge has been released, offering audiences their first full look at the next chapter of director Aditya Dhar’s espionage saga.
Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, the sequel continues the story introduced in the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar and expands the narrative with a darker tone, larger scale action, and deeper exploration of its central characters.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the festive period around Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and ahead of Eid.
Trailer Highlights a Ruthless New Chapter
The three-minute-plus trailer introduces a more intense phase of the story, with Ranveer Singh returning as Indian intelligence operative Jaskirat Singh Rangi.
In the sequel, the character continues his undercover mission under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari. The footage suggests he has risen to power in Karachi’s Lyari district following the death of feared gangster Rehman Dakait, previously portrayed by Akshaye Khanna in the first film.
The narrative now centers on a brutal power struggle within the criminal underworld as Rangi deepens his infiltration while pursuing larger national security objectives.
The trailer features several high-energy sequences of shootouts, covert operations and urban conflict, underscoring the film’s revenge-driven storyline. One line delivered by Singh’s character reflects the geopolitical tension central to the plot:
“Ab Pakistan ka mustakbil, Hindustan tey karega.”
Ensemble Cast Returns for the Sequel
The film brings back key characters alongside several major performers.
Among the prominent roles:
- Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam
- R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal
- Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal
- Sara Ali Khan in a supporting role
According to Madhavan, the sequel explores the backstory of his character’s relationship with Ranveer Singh’s protagonist, including how the intelligence operative was recruited for the mission.
Viral ‘Ari Ari’ Track Powers the Trailer
Much of the trailer montage is set to a remixed version of “Ari Ari,” a song originally released in 2007 by Danish-Indian music duo Bombay Rockers.
The track, from their debut album Introducing, blends Punjabi and English musical elements and was one of the group’s early hits. The revived version used in the film’s trailer has quickly gained attention online for its energetic rhythm accompanying the action-heavy visuals.
Industry Reactions and Social Media Buzz
The trailer’s release triggered widespread reactions across the film industry and online audiences.
Actor Alia Bhatt shared the trailer on social media and wrote:
“BEAST MODE ON!!!!!!!!! This trailer is out of controlllllll.”
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma also praised the preview, calling it “fantastic” and describing the scale of the sequel as larger than the original film.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the trailer positions the project as a theatrical spectacle, highlighting its large-scale action and mass-entertainment appeal.
Expanding the Spy Universe
Inspired by real-world events, the Dhurandhar franchise follows an undercover Indian intelligence officer navigating criminal networks and terror operations in Pakistan.
While the first film focused primarily on the protagonist’s infiltration of a terror group, the sequel moves deeper into geopolitical conflict and the internal dynamics of Lyari’s criminal hierarchy.
The story continues to examine the dual identities of Jaskirat Singh Rangi and Hamza Ali Mazari as the mission grows more dangerous and personal.
Release Date, Languages and Advance Bookings
Presented by Jio Studios and produced by B62 Studios, the film will release in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Overseas advance bookings have already opened in select international markets, with domestic ticket sales expected to begin following the trailer launch. The makers are also planning paid preview screenings on March 18, a day before the global theatrical debut.
With its large ensemble cast, high-intensity action sequences, and expanded storyline, Dhurandhar: The Revenge aims to continue the franchise’s momentum when it arrives in cinemas worldwide on March 19, 2026.
